A journey into the world of gardening, animal husbandry, cottage
industry, and just plain living
What does
LinderCroft mean? The 'Linder' is slang for Linda in
Massachusetts and means beautiful in Spanish. 'Croft' is
French and stands for small farm. So in essence the name
LinderCroft means 'Beautiful Farm'.

Hello, I'm Linda and I live by the Klamath River in
Northern California. I moved here in June of 2007 to be
with my, then soon-to-be husband, Jim. He had a nice
house nestled in the pines of the beautiful Klamath
Mountains... a unique and picturesque area with abundant
rainfall in the late fall, winter, and early spring. The
area has plenty of outdoor recreation; rafting, fishing,
mining and more. There is an abundance of wildlife
|
such as mountain lions, black bear, coyote, fox, deer, elk,
otter, and more. Fishing is good here too and the salmon come up
river to spawn every year. It's wild here and yet it's close to
major cities and shopping.

I had wished to have a garden, a couple Nigerian Dwarf goats,
some chickens, and rabbits. In other words, a small homestead. We were looking at housing and we
came across this house that we both fell in love with. It was
build in 1951, was rebuilt in part in 1997. It has a beautiful
view of the river and most important to me, it has room to
garden and I can have the animals I had wished for. It also has
several out buildings, including a guest cabin which we use as a
vacation rental. There are also many other buildings that we are
converting to our use, such as a wood shop and a barn for the
animals.
Along with the 10 year old cat we already had, there was a stray
cat that came with the property and she has wiggled her way into
Jim's heart. Soon after moving here we found and rescued a mixed
Shepherd/SharPei puppy and he has become a beloved part of our
family as well.
